ShiKong Shrine&WanJun Will

Located east of the Temple of Mother Goddess and in front of WanJun Well, the Shrine is now situated on the site of HaiTang Hall during the Ching Dynasty.  In early years, HaiTang Hall and the Shrine were built on the east side of the current Penghu Hospital, and torn down in order to accommodate the new Penghu Hospital in 1913, during Japanese occupation.  The subordinates and descendants of ShiKong removed his statue and cultural objects of worship, to the current site on Zhongyang St., and built the Shrine.

With the original name of Magong Great Will or ShiChung Well, the Well provided the troops of ShiKong with endless clean water according to the legend after ShiKong prayed to Mother Goddess and received her commands to dig a well east of the Temple of Mother Goddess, who led his soldiers to defeat General Liou, KoSheng’s troops of the Ming Dynasty and was embarrassed by an insufficient supply of drinking water.
