Temple of Mother Goddess in Penghu

The Temple is the earliest one built in Taiwan with the original name of Goddess Ma Temple or Mazu Temple.  The Temple, constructed with single row, 2 columns, and 3 rooms per column during the Ching Dynasty, was rebuilt in its current appearance in 1923.  The delicate wood sculpture and color painting on the house beams are pristine art works, and its beams and columns, bracket sets, sculptured stone drums, relieves on the walls, and doors and window frames present simple and classical images.  The Temple is listed as a first-grade heritage and the treasure of Penghu, as well as the origin of the title Magong.
