“Wangan” (“Wang” with the third tone in Chinese) is an old name for Wangan (“Wang” with the fourth tone in Chinese), and is also the biggest settlement on the south Wangan Island. The pure white beach in Wangankou is more than one kilometer long, and is an ideal recreational place in the scorching summer. The grassland on the beach is where the green turtles lay eggs, and has been designated as a green turtle nesting protection area.
