Situated in the middle of the Taiwan Strait, Penghu
archipelago is not only the door of Taiwan, but also the
external office of the seashore. It served as a midway
island for immigrants moving to Taiwan from Mainland
China. According to the historical records and legends,
Penghu was officially established in the 18th year of
the Chih Yuan reign of the Yuan dynasty; this was more
than 380 years earlier than the first development of
Taiwan. |
